Mohamed Sathak Engineering College in Kilakarai was started in 1984 by the Mohamed Sathak Trust. This is the only one engineering available in kilakarai. The short form of this college is MSEC.

It has double characteristic feature as the First Self-Financing college and also the Muslim Minority College in down south of Tamil Nadu.

This college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. This college proffer 10 Undergraduate and 8 Post Graduate courses to over 2500 students from various place mark. This institution is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution and it is affiliated to Anna University, Trichy. 

In Tamil Nadu, Very few colleges have Marine and Aeronautical Department. This college is one among those which offers these courses.
